Growing Up in the Shadow of Legends: My Alvin, Texas Story

Before I was focused on the court, I was chasing the checkered flag at Triple C Raceway in Alvin. There’s nothing like the smell of dirt tracks and the roar of a midget engine to teach you about speed and focus. Who else remembers those Saturday nights?

The Foodie Option: "You can’t say you’re from Alvin if you haven't cleared a tray at Joe’s Barbecue. Between the brisket at Joe’s and the all-you-can-eat at Parks, we definitely didn't go hungry. This is the taste of home!"

  • The Community Option: "In Alvin, the best business happened over a plate of BBQ. It wasn't just about the food; it was about the people sitting across from you. That’s the kind of community spirit I carry with me today in everything I do."

  • The 'Join the Conversation' Option: "Joe’s Barbecue vs. Parks Restaurant... the ultimate Alvin debate! Which one was your go-to? 👇" Yes Nolan at here...

I was doing some reminiscing today about where I started. Before I was helping families secure their financial futures, I was a kid in Alvin, Texas, racing midgets and go-karts at Triple C Raceway.

I learned early on that life moves fast—just like those karts! Growing up in a place where the doors stayed unlocked and we played outside until the streetlights came on gave me a deep appreciation for security and community.

Whether I was playing college basketball or eating all-you-can-eat at Parks Restaurant, the lesson was always the same: People come first.

That’s why I do what I do today. I want to make sure your family has the same peace of mind I felt growing up in that small Texas town. If you ever want to swap stories about the "Ryan Express" or talk about protecting your legacy, my door is always open.

Best,
